My friend Bill wanted to actively scare people this year. So we built a dummy to ware his costume and sit on the front porch for the week before Halloween to give the neighborhood kids a chance to examine it and make sure it wasn't some one who would jump up and scare them.
On Halloween day I put up a plastic blind around most of the porch and moved the dummy into final position. The black thing between the dummy and the fireplace has a leaf blower behind it. I set up a strobe in front of the dummy and there was a switch on the side of the chair that would turn off the porch light and turn on the leaf blower and strobe at the same time.
