Douglas Fur is a marvelous piece of engineering. The eyes, mouth and electronics were obviously designed to fit many different creatures. The Fur tree part is separate from the mechanics and raps around the mechanical spine. The tree is held onto the machine by a few wire ties and a lot of hot melt glue. He's all modular and easy to work on.

Stripping Douglas the hard way. Use a bolt cutter or metal shears to cut away everything that looks like a tree.

Stripping Doug the easy way. Cut the 3 plastic wire ties that hold the tree to the support rod in the center of the stand.

Finally trim the tree fuzzys off of the eyes and mouth.
